PROJECTS
The Foundation has three current strategies: to PROTECT the bodies of water in our watershed, to PRESERVE the lands in that watershed from development and to MOBILIZE support for our shared environment.
Protecting our watershed primarily involves mitigating the impact of development on our lakes, rivers and tributaries. This means keeping phosphorous and coliforms out of lakes and rivers through the ongoing projects of the Foundation, including encouraging lake-friendly boating practices and restoring wetlands and buffers.
Preserving land from development not only secures forests and open spaces that help mitigate the effects of climate change, but ensures our communities can continue to rely on clean water and healthy watersheds.
By advocating and mobilizing support for our shared environment, we help our government and civic leaders to include environmental impact in all their decision making such as supporting our recent requests for Open Space funding.
Sussex County is unique in its natural assets and the Greater Culver Lake Watershed Conservation Foundation seeks to maintain and enhance these natural resources for generations to come.
